Winter Warmth

This weekend was pretty busy!

I feel like it was everyone and their Grandma's birthday this weekend! Friday night started out by celebrating my friends Kimmi and Amanda's birthday! I had loads of fun! We went to a yummy restaurant downtown and then dancing at The Bob! I was really looking forward to some girl time, dancing, and checking out The Eve night club at the very top of The Bob! Around midnight I met up with my other friends to celebrate the other birthday and more dancing.  By the end of the night, or well morning... my knees and feet were aching with pain!! Not to mention there was a random snow storm and my heels weren't doing the job!

I met up with Amanda and everyone at the good ole' westside bar- The Bird.  It's a high school reunion pretty much every weekend there!

Amanda, Me, Vic
How lame of me to cut the Birthday girl out... but I'm just not talented with taking my own pictures! Should of done a little less dancing and more picture time!

The rest of the weekend consisted of homework, studying, church, and bumping  into one of my good friends Hilary and her meng Andrew! We went to Panera (mmmmm) after church to catch up! This week is going to be pretty busy between school and meetings! I am going to start volunteering for Goodwill again (yay)! I am also hoping to do a blog project with them soon.... another project to work on! I am really getting the hang of this blog and I am enjoying watching it blossom.  I see this blog as my outlet for my hobby (thrifting) It's not so much of fashion tips, and keeping up with the fads and what not..not saying I won't go that route, it's all pretty much up in the air at this point and I am just having fun with it! I love finding good stuff and showing people what second hand treasures are to be found! I rarely shop at the mall anymore...so this is a big boost  in my personal budget!

I also want to get some formatting down... my outfits seeing as second hand stores carry a bazillion brands will go like this:
description/store/brand/price

Yes... I have glasses!

Dress/ Goodwill/ Old Navy/ $4.99
Vest- Hand me down from Grandma!
Necklace/ Goodwill/ $1.99
Tights/ American Eagle/ $6
Boots/ Target/ Kashanna/ $20-ish?

haha...the camera was still on macro- Brettles.

Southern Bell

This is probably my ultimate vintage find! Here it is, the dress I talked about in my last post!

I picked this dress from the Goodwill in Virginia for $4!! At first I wasn't sure about it because I didn't know what I was going to where it to...then I tried it on and it felt like it was suited just for my body! It fit perfectly and I was sold! I ended up wearing this dress to a wedding of my boyfriends friend Josh.

A fun weekend is in order, two friends birthdays, thrifting, and more funsies!!!

Also, you may notice that there a few changes- new fonts, colors! A special Thank You to Tieka at Selectivepotential.blogspot.com for assisting me in this transition!!

Take care everyone!

Goodwill's Jewels

I have found some of my favorite jewelery at Goodwill..

One of my first posts featured a Zebra necklace from Goodwill. Jewelery tends to run anywhere from .49 cents to $4.99. The only thing that you will not find so much of is rings. I have found one ring at Salvation Army that I wear everyday! However, if your ring size is 7 and up then your in luck!

My Goodwill internship has ended, my huge project is completed and I miss it very much so! I'm hoping to land a job there once I graduate!

This necklace almost matches my skirt from Forever 21!

What's the Skinny?

Skinny belts are wonderful and versatile!

In my last post I wore this red skinny belt with a dress to contrast the colors. Today (or well yesterday..) I'm wearing it for a little pop of color in my outfit! It's very cold here in the Mitten and I was feeling lazy when I got dressed this morning, so I wanted to wear comfy clothes.

My apologies on the photos...I'm not good at taking pictures of myself, setting up the camera, scene, etc..! I also had more but I accidentally deleted them from rotating the image ughh!

So I have had the worst luck with ink these past few days... last week a toner decided to explode on me and my favorite scarf. Today a pen exploded while I was moving stuff around baaah! However, it did make me think of Nemo which is perfectly okay! I'm so excited for this week to end- A couple birthdays and friend dates!! yay!

My thrift tip today is to expand your style! Most people think they won't find anything because their sticking to their typical fashion parameters. However, this isn't always true... I find many items that are "me" but I also like to experiment with different color schemes and patterns! So if your finding yourself wondering about looking for a particular item- stop! Go to the mens section, vintage jewelery, furniture, experiment with different stuff and you will be surprise!

I'm having a few of my friends asking me to take them out thrifting! This is what I really want for my blog...to show people the potential of thrifting, the fun, and saving money!

I'm shooting to have my next post feature my vintage southern bell dress that I picked at Goodwill in Virginia. If i remember correctly, it was around $4!

Snow a day keeps Stef inside all the way!

My title is a lame attempt to rhyme...haha.

Here is my trial and error on getting use to my new camera..

As I mentioned in my brief post prior to this, I got a new Nikon camera! I went to a Sustainability event at Kendall college this evening, Stella's for dinner, and grabbed a quick beer with Brett and Eric. It was nice to get out a bit! I sadly w
as not able to meet up with Amber due to the random snow storm! blah! I am starting to get back into the swing of things, volunteering, clubs, attending events, and working on projects. The same old... but I HAD to take a break last semester with taking 20 credit hours and all (p.s. I do not recommend unless absolutely necessary!)

If there is one thing someone should do in life... it is to go to a church rummage sale!! I found this awesome shoe rack and necklace holder there (the two things I was on the hunt for) I got them together for $2, steal.

I had to take most of these picture myself, so my apologies if their not that great.. still figuring this out!

Concurrrrr!

I have a new camera, Nikon, and I am in love. Yes, I am very excited. It's not crazy or too fancy... I have no interest in becoming a photographer BUT I do want to learn how to take better quality photos! I am going to a few events tonight, meeting up with my friend Amber for some delicious food, and playing around with my camera yipee! Photos to come!

Milk was a bad choice

If I have one thing to confess... it would be my love for Will Ferrell. But that is pretty much known!

The title is in reference to The Anchorman which I am currently watching. I need some comedy to inspire me before I get started on my already long homework list. Am I the only one surprised by how fast this week flew by? Maybe it is just because it is my first week back to school, but I honestly think there is just something going to, the earth is tilted more, the moon is further from the earth, the continents shifted. I'm sure none of these have to do with time flying by but I figured I would throw a few things out there. Carrying on, I am in the reminiscent stage of college. I am browsing through photos over the past few years and I thought I would share some... get to know me a bit more and it'll help develop my blog! I hope I will be able to get someone to do some outfit shots for me this weekend!

I just went through my pictures.. and I found out it is a difficult task to pick out my favorite pics, I had to call it quits at some point eeek! There are many, many more!

This is a random fun/weird makeup night- Freshman

No words can explain... besides, I am silly.

Jac, Me, Linda- Freshman year
I had the privilege of living on the same floor of these gals!
I also really like this picture because I am not photogenic and this turned out pretty good! yay

I am now off to a friends house! I hope this helps convey my personality! :)

Hair model for the evening part dos!

There is nothing like having someone else do your hair... it is heaven. Don't believe me? I'm sure it is in The Bible somewhere....

Especially when you have a long, thick, hot mess hair like mine. But I absolutely love it! Having thick hair allows me not to wash it as much, hair styles stay in longer, and it's fun (and not fun sometimes)! Anyway, my friend Amanda graduated from Douglas J and she now works at Splurge Salon in Grand Rapids. I am her hair model as advertisement and for events! This was a bit nerve wrecking for me seeing as I am not quite that fond of having 30+ eyes all on me and my do. haha. I still had a great time and I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to do so!! Thanks Mandy, you are supreme. Here are a few pictures from the event:

The final product

This was the 5 min up-do part

Amanda curling my hair :)

I have cards for Amanda for 20% off any service--contact me to get at that!!

So school resumes on Monday...meow. I actually am looking forward to the last semester ever. I think? well... at least for a long time. Also, I will have classes with some long lost friends yay! But I am not ready for the school stress to kick back in, not one bit! I have been stressed enough as it is. I feel like I am still carrying stress from my last finals haha! I just need an outlet (thrifting) to put me at ease. I have been overly caring about my presentation to others and acceptance. This is something that I have struggled with all my life and I don't see an end coming as of yet. I know, I know... that no one likes someone who tries to hard...but I am a very talkative and genuine individual who sometimes doesn't know when too much is indeed too much. meh! A work in progress I suppose...

My next thrift project will be to style the same skirt for everyday of the week! Should be fun!!

and I am also working on getting a better camera to take some decent photos ahha!

Goodnight

Thrift Shoe Collection!

Oh the final stretch of break...

I sure am going to miss sleeping in till noon...1pm, being a couch potato, and watching loads of SVU and Lifetime movies. Yes, I am that cheesy. So it is looking like I will be placed into a paid position at Goodwill as early as this Spring (before I graduate)!!! THIS IS MY DREAM COME TRUE! I have absolutely loved interning at Goodwill these past few months! I will update on this as I find out more. I will have the Sustainability Plan complete by this coming Wednesday, a long time coming. I also have a homework assignment before my last semester commences, boo. I will be getting ready pretty soon to go out to one of my really good friends, Liza's 21st Birthday!! I will be in her wedding this coming May and I can't wait!! I decided to do this post on my growing shoe collection from thrifting. The two items I find the most are shoes and skirts. I will do a separate post on skirts soon!

Hush Puppies $4 Goodwill

Mossimo Heels $4.99 Goodwill

Xhiliration Flats $4 Goodwill
(Got these brand new!)

Michael Shannon $3 Goodwill

Xhiliration Peep toe heels $3 Goodwill

Vintage kitty heels- Salvation Army $4.99

Black heels- Goodwill $4.99

I just got the red and black heels today! I like them because they look sassy! I can't wait to wear these out...maybe tonight?? hmm hmm

My thrift tip today is: Don't forget to check out the mannequins!! I found a brand new Forever 21 skirt and Express shirt (original tags attached) what a steal!! Some stores may have policies against taking the clothes off the mannequin so don't forget to ask!!

Good day, or night? :)
