What's the Skinny?

Skinny belts are wonderful and versatile!

In my last post I wore this red skinny belt with a dress to contrast the colors. Today (or well yesterday..) I'm wearing it for a little pop of color in my outfit! It's very cold here in the Mitten and I was feeling lazy when I got dressed this morning, so I wanted to wear comfy clothes.

My apologies on the photos...I'm not good at taking pictures of myself, setting up the camera, scene, etc..! I also had more but I accidentally deleted them from rotating the image ughh!

So I have had the worst luck with ink these past few days... last week a toner decided to explode on me and my favorite scarf. Today a pen exploded while I was moving stuff around baaah! However, it did make me think of Nemo which is perfectly okay! I'm so excited for this week to end- A couple birthdays and friend dates!! yay!

My thrift tip today is to expand your style! Most people think they won't find anything because their sticking to their typical fashion parameters. However, this isn't always true... I find many items that are "me" but I also like to experiment with different color schemes and patterns! So if your finding yourself wondering about looking for a particular item- stop! Go to the mens section, vintage jewelery, furniture, experiment with different stuff and you will be surprise!

I'm having a few of my friends asking me to take them out thrifting! This is what I really want for my blog...to show people the potential of thrifting, the fun, and saving money!

I'm shooting to have my next post feature my vintage southern bell dress that I picked at Goodwill in Virginia. If i remember correctly, it was around $4!

Snow a day keeps Stef inside all the way!

My title is a lame attempt to rhyme...haha.

Here is my trial and error on getting use to my new camera..

As I mentioned in my brief post prior to this, I got a new Nikon camera! I went to a Sustainability event at Kendall college this evening, Stella's for dinner, and grabbed a quick beer with Brett and Eric. It was nice to get out a bit! I sadly w
as not able to meet up with Amber due to the random snow storm! blah! I am starting to get back into the swing of things, volunteering, clubs, attending events, and working on projects. The same old... but I HAD to take a break last semester with taking 20 credit hours and all (p.s. I do not recommend unless absolutely necessary!)

If there is one thing someone should do in life... it is to go to a church rummage sale!! I found this awesome shoe rack and necklace holder there (the two things I was on the hunt for) I got them together for $2, steal.

I have a new camera, Nikon, and I am in love. Yes, I am very excited. It's not crazy or too fancy... I have no interest in becoming a photographer BUT I do want to learn how to take better quality photos! I am going to a few events tonight, meeting up with my friend Amber for some delicious food, and playing around with my camera yipee! Photos to come!

Milk was a bad choice

If I have one thing to confess... it would be my love for Will Ferrell. But that is pretty much known!

The title is in reference to The Anchorman which I am currently watching. I need some comedy to inspire me before I get started on my already long homework list. Am I the only one surprised by how fast this week flew by? Maybe it is just because it is my first week back to school, but I honestly think there is just something going to, the earth is tilted more, the moon is further from the earth, the continents shifted. I'm sure none of these have to do with time flying by but I figured I would throw a few things out there. Carrying on, I am in the reminiscent stage of college. I am browsing through photos over the past few years and I thought I would share some... get to know me a bit more and it'll help develop my blog! I hope I will be able to get someone to do some outfit shots for me this weekend!

I just went through my pictures.. and I found out it is a difficult task to pick out my favorite pics, I had to call it quits at some point eeek! There are many, many more!

This is a random fun/weird makeup night- Freshman

Hair model for the evening part dos!

There is nothing like having someone else do your hair... it is heaven. Don't believe me? I'm sure it is in The Bible somewhere....

Especially when you have a long, thick, hot mess hair like mine. But I absolutely love it! Having thick hair allows me not to wash it as much, hair styles stay in longer, and it's fun (and not fun sometimes)! Anyway, my friend Amanda graduated from Douglas J and she now works at Splurge Salon in Grand Rapids. I am her hair model as advertisement and for events! This was a bit nerve wrecking for me seeing as I am not quite that fond of having 30+ eyes all on me and my do. haha. I still had a great time and I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to do so!! Thanks Mandy, you are supreme. Here are a few pictures from the event:

This was the 5 min up-do part

I have cards for Amanda for 20% off any service--contact me to get at that!!

So school resumes on Monday...meow. I actually am looking forward to the last semester ever. I think? well... at least for a long time. Also, I will have classes with some long lost friends yay! But I am not ready for the school stress to kick back in, not one bit! I have been stressed enough as it is. I feel like I am still carrying stress from my last finals haha! I just need an outlet (thrifting) to put me at ease. I have been overly caring about my presentation to others and acceptance. This is something that I have struggled with all my life and I don't see an end coming as of yet. I know, I know... that no one likes someone who tries to hard...but I am a very talkative and genuine individual who sometimes doesn't know when too much is indeed too much. meh! A work in progress I suppose...

My next thrift project will be to style the same skirt for everyday of the week! Should be fun!!

and I am also working on getting a better camera to take some decent photos ahha!

Goodnight

Thrift Shoe Collection!

Oh the final stretch of break...

I sure am going to miss sleeping in till noon...1pm, being a couch potato, and watching loads of SVU and Lifetime movies. Yes, I am that cheesy. So it is looking like I will be placed into a paid position at Goodwill as early as this Spring (before I graduate)!!! THIS IS MY DREAM COME TRUE! I have absolutely loved interning at Goodwill these past few months! I will update on this as I find out more. I will have the Sustainability Plan complete by this coming Wednesday, a long time coming. I also have a homework assignment before my last semester commences, boo. I will be getting ready pretty soon to go out to one of my really good friends, Liza's 21st Birthday!! I will be in her wedding this coming May and I can't wait!! I decided to do this post on my growing shoe collection from thrifting. The two items I find the most are shoes and skirts. I will do a separate post on skirts soon!

My thrift tip today is: Don't forget to check out the mannequins!! I found a brand new Forever 21 skirt and Express shirt (original tags attached) what a steal!! Some stores may have policies against taking the clothes off the mannequin so don't forget to ask!!

Good day, or night? :)

2011? What happened to 07!

My my my.... how time is flying by faster each day!

First of all, I hope everyone had wonderful Christmas weekend!! My Christmas was quite busy between my family gatherings and Brett's family stuff as well! I was nervous going into this Christmas season at first because I have been pretty poor lately. So, instead of buying all sorts of gifts and gift cards this season; I went thrift shopping. I bought a couple dozen mugs, tea, and some chocolate goodies. I put the goodies in the mug and wrapped the mugs in newspaper! It looked pretty neat when I was all done. I need to get use to taking more pictures.. The reference to 07 pertains to the year I graduated High School! In a couple of months I will be getting my Bachelor Degree in Sustainable Business!! AHHHH!!! toot toot! very nice

This would be the first Christmas that I got gift cards for Goodwill... and let me tell YOU..I am ecstatic!! I have been working on my internship portfolio as well at Goodwill. I should be all done in the next day or two! I am also brainstorming a non-profit organization.. I talked to Nick about it and he suggested to write a basic business plan. I will share more details when I get that finished but it is really exciting!! He loved the idea so it makes me eager to work on it! :)

Also to fellow bloggers...people who pass through.. I would like to do a "Share Your Wealth" series.. this will involve sharing secret tricks and treats that you have picked up along your life and share with other people- email me for some collaboration yes?!
